Winter Guard

Winter Guard is called the "Sport of the Arts" because it brings music to life through artistic performances in a competitive format. Winter Guard is an extracurricular activity open to all Bixby High School students, male and female, through an audition process. Most but not all of the Winter Guard members are also part of the Bixby Marching Band Color Guard. Winter Guard is an opportunity for these skilled performers to further challenge themselves after the marching season ends. The Winter Guard unit performs using dance, acrobatics, and pieces of equipment such as flags, rifles, and sabres. Competitions are held indoors using pre-recorded music of varying styles. The long hours of practice and hard work and dedication of Bixby's Winter Guard members has resulted in the corps becoming one of the top units in our region. With its unique combination of movement, drama, gymnastics and military precision, Winter Guard challenges any and all who participate and captivates all who see its pagentry and power.
